Norman N. Bein, M.D., FACS: Dr. Bein has been a practicing surgeon for over 30 years. He is certified by The American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of The American College of Surgery. Dr. Bein is also a member of the American College of Phlebology.
Dr. Bein spent the first two years of his surgical training at The Rush Presbyterian St. Lukes Medical Center in Chicago. After a two year tour of duty attached to the US Army Medical Corps in Southeast Asia, he completed his surgical training and served as chief resident at The Jefferson University Medical School and Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr. Bein has, is his long professional career, helped to establish surgical hospitals in both the Middle East and the Far East.
For 17 years prior to coming to St. Louis with his wife, Maria, he was the chief of the department of surgery for a very large multi-specialty clinic in Massachusetts.
Dr. Bein met his wife, Maria, a Registered Nurse specializing in acute pediatric burn care, while working as a surgeon overseas. They have been married for over 24 years. Maria is the clinical director of Vein Specialties and is involved in every aspect of the running of the vein center.
Dr. Bein has been performing vein surgery for over 35 years. With recent advances in laser surgery he has been able to bring his knowledge and experience to Vein Specialties LLC, directing his practice to the in-office treatment of all aspects of venous disease.
Maria Bein RN: Being Dr. Bein’s wife of 24 years, Maria has worked closely with him in all aspects of his surgical career. Maria’s experience is as a pediatric burns nurse in Australia where she completed her nursing training and midwifery certification. Maria set up a burns unit in Saudi Arabia and then worked as a wound care nurse in the USA. Maria has a keen interest in the skin and its problems. She works here as our clinical director and also works directly with Dr. Bein and the other nurses on procedures. She has extensive training in vein disease and treatment.
Joanne
Cvijic, PA: Welcome to our new staff member. We are pleased to
announce that Joanne Cvijic PA-C has recently joined our staff.
Joanne brings many years of experience as a Physician's Assistant
in venous and vascular practices. Joanne is a graduate of Cornell
University's Physician Assistant's program in New York. In her
training she gained experience in the fields of Vascular, Plastic,
Ear/Nose/Throat, Neck & Trauma Surgery. Most recently Joanne
worked at the renowned Vein Therapy Center in Fairfield County,
Connecticut. There she had many years of experience in evaluating
and treating all types of vein problems both medical and cosmetic.
She is trained in many types of laser systems, most of which we
use, here, in our office. Joanne has excellent skills in the field
of sclerotherapy and topical laser for spider veins and hair
removal. She will be assisting Dr. Bein in laser surgery
procedures and in evaluating both new and existing patients.
Joanne and her husband have chosen to make St. Louis their new
home. They have settled in UCity with their dog, Fletch.
Ella Kuznetsova, RN: With many years of experience as an RN and especially with laser treatment of spider veins on all areas of the body, Ella is a welcome addition to our team. She assists Dr. Bein during evaluations and surgery. She is an artist with IPL and laser cosmetic treatments for maximum results in combating signs of aging, sun damage, skin staining from vein disease and other types of older treatments. Ella is one of the pioneers of laser and IPL skin rejuvenation in St. Louis. Ella’s experience and personality will ensure your comfort with any treatments you choose.
Shanon Volkmer: As our patient coordinator, Shannon is the first contact you will have with our vein treatment clinic whether in person or on the phone. She will assist you with vein procedure basics, scheduling a convenient appointment and any other questions you might have. Shannon has an extensive business background and is also interested in pursuing a career in nursing.
Sherrie Turner: In her position as office manager and insurance coordinator, Sherrie will be able to assist you with insurance and other financial arrangements for your vein treatments. As our office works with insurance directly, whether in or out of network, Sherrie will be your advocate with most insurance plans and file the appropriate paperwork. She is also able to assist you with clarification of your benefits. For cosmetic (non-medically necessary) procedures, Sherrie will be able to assist with other financial arrangements.
